We to have been caught,my friend [who also got a notice ]had a nice wander around the stores, had some lunch in the Range, then carried on looking,we do not rush these days as we are both pensioners, but what a surprise we both had when we received this £50 fine.

These tickets are pretty much un-enforceable - please see the link below on Money Saving Expert Website. Ignore the ticket, call the store you visited and don't worry! http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/private-parking-tickets?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=clicks&utm_campaign=resourcebar

We have been caught to, we received a parking charge today from TPS for £70 and like other people did not realise that there was any parking restrictions or time limit, it takes us quite a while to reach there and we had lunch and enjoyed shopping at most of the retail shops there, but will not be doing so in future, so the shops are loosing out because of this company. We will try other peoples advice and contact the Range and see if we have any luck stopping this charge.

Today we have received a demand from Total Parking Solutions after my Wife and a friend spent an enjoyable 3 hours and 44 minutes shopping and having lunch there. Both ladies are Pensioners and I am totally disgusted that having travelled from Southbourne in order to shop and lunch at the many shopping outlets; they get victimised in such an underhand way. The management of this Retail Park should be strung up. I will do all I can to stop peole from shopping here and getting treated in such a disgusting way.

Have joined many other unaware shoppers as received charge notice, hopping mad, had no idea that there is a time limit on this car park. Contacted the Range and spoke to the Manager I think and he's assured me that they can get the fine cancelled. Well done The Range, apparently you can go into their store and ask for them to put your registration into their computer so as you can park for longer, definitly worth doing on future visits. So if one of these letters end up on your mat, complain, don't pay.

Absolutely mad - Came home from work to find a "charge notice reminder" for £70 for parking at Turbary Retail Park nearly a month ago! I shopped several stores and also had lunch in one of them on a Sunday afternoon having travelled an hour and a half to get there. My 'crime ' apparently was to stay longer than 3 hours - do they want customers or not?!! I have not been sent the original notice they refer to and certainly had no idea of the 'time limit' on 'FREE PARKING' which is shown on both the Dunelm and the Range websites. I have just spoken to a lovely employee at the Dunelm store who has taken my details and explained that the manager will e-mail Total Parking Solutions to write of this charge. Please complain to the stores you have visited and do not pay this ridiculous charge.

The range are so help full and will cancel any fine just ignore it and give them or any of the stores there a call, and there is signs in the range that say if your going to shop more than 3 hours please tell a member of staff.

I have now sent an email to this lady...I wonder if she will reply?...
  • Turbary Retail Park, Ray (guest) wrote 13 years ago:
As I understand it you don't need to pay any attention to the charge letter anyway since they're not enforceable. These kinds of parking companies are not allowed to called their letters "fines" or "penalties" because it implies you have a legal obligation to pay. You don't. I made formal complaints at Dunelm and The Range where my family shopped because, although they don't run the car park, it's ridiculous their management aren't complaining to the retail park owners about how the car park is run. I spoke to a manager at Dunelm who offered to take my registration plate and have the PCN cancelled. (They have forms you can pick up in store if you're going to be more than 3 hours, so Dunelm can tell Total Parking Solutions to go away, and they offer to do that on the phone in hindsight if you have receipts for the time you were there). In any case, the general advise is to ignore the letters, even those threatening court action and credit rating etc etc. See this on watchdog : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

Just had some 'little man' in a black leather jacket swear at me whilst taking photo's of me putting my 2 babies in the car...I came back to my car to find both sides blocked in so I asked my dad to keep an eye on the children whilst I pulled my car forward so I could open the doors. In front of me was a disabled space (I know what your all thinking) so I pulled up next to my parents who were parked in a disabled bay showing their blue badge I put my daughter in one side & took my son of my dad & walked round to the other side only to see this little man taking photo's of my car! When I asked him what he was doing I was told that I was a selfish f****** woman who is taking up valuable spaces....when I tried to explain why I was parked there (engine was still running) he told me he didn't give s s*** so I asked him to stop using langague like that in front of my 2 year old son & he said he could use what ever langage he wanted & if I hadn't been such a silly c**t (by this point my blood was boiling) by parking there then he wouldn't have had any reason to take photo's...so I asked him to take a photo of me putting my son in the car he he said why would I need to take a photo of you're brat! I then took a deep breathe & said well if you had parent & child parking then this wouldn't have happened so I walked over to see what it was he was writing down & he shouted at me as if I was about to attack him saying he was going to call the police on me... I asked to see his ID & he told me to F-off & that he didn't need to show me his ID so I asked who he worked for & was told it was none of my f***ing business so I said & I am sorry but I swore too I asked for the bloddy piece of paper & he said once it's on your windscreen it's issued (he was still writing on it at this time) so I looked at my parents who are very fragile & wouldn't say boo to a goose & drove off...ok I done a wheel spin too so I haven't actually recieved this notice yet. He told my parents which I forgot to add were told by this little man they should be ashamed of me for parking in a disabled bay (which I don't normally do unless I have one of them in my car)that he is going to post the fine. Since I have been home dad has given me the deatils of a lady who came up to mum & dad because my mum was crying who witnessed everything & all the fowl langague. I have phoned the police & they have told me to gain as much detail about this little man as I can & they will take the matter up as it was abuse & we have witnesses. I have just phoned Dunelm Mills & a lady who works on the customer service desk she saw us but didn't know what it was about & that they can't help but she didn get me the telephone number of TPS - 0845 2573540 (option 1) The lady there was semi helpful I told her I need this man's name for the police & she asked me to email her manager (Tania) who will be able to help me further...we will see.. For everyone out there who are also having issues then her email address is..... tania.bruton@totalparkingservices.co.uk I will now be sending her an email along with a link to this site so she can see all the complaints for herself & we will see what happens but I am happy for it to go to court but I also want this little man prosecuted for abuse by the police.

Just received fine for £70, I phoned Dunelm and was told that they will be getting in touch with TPS to get the fine stopped, they told me they get a lot of office workers using their parking spaces so it is to deter them from using the parking lots, the thing is it has deterred me from ever shopping there again. PS the store did say to me the next time I want to shop there I should ask for a permit for longer shopping. Good luck one and all!

Have just received a fine also - parasites! Spent time and a lot of money shopping in TKMaxx, SportsDirect, Dunelm and then into The Range to measure and look at bedroom furniture. Spent 3 hours. It's a disgrace - we will be taking this very very much further and if the charge is not removed, we will NEVER shop at the retail park in the future. They can go out of business, the whole lot of them for all I care!

I have spoken to a nice lady from the Range - she has a file full of these and has a 100% success rate in getting them cancelled. Don't pay TPS! Google this issue -apparently they rely on people paying up, but they an't make you.

Have also just received a fine of £70 after shopping there for 3 hrs 20mins which I have done on several occasions befor as I did not know there were time restrictions. I have 2 small children and live out of area so when we go we spend time around the shops and have lunch. I will not be shopping here again it's an absolute disgrace they ought to be ashamed of themselves, in the current climate many buisinesses are struggling for customers and this is not the way to encourage people to use this retail park!!

a very carefully planned ploy to extract more money from unsuspecting customers in charging for excess parking outside large stores that a long require time to get around, that day i spent a considerable amount, but now their parasitic attitude to customers has extended that amount. shame on you parasites !!!!!

I too have been charges £90 for parking for 3 and a quarter hours having spent over £160 in Dunelms! Have now received a second bill reducing the charge to £50!! Dunelms have promised to contact tps to waive the charge for me. The site is owned by B&Q who have set up this camera system.
